All-weather lifeboat rescues for 2020

TitleHaydn Miller in search for missing kitesurfer.
WindSW 42 knots
Casualty typeMissing kitesurfer
DetailsTenby's RNLI all-weathr lifeboat was requested to launch at 6pm on Sunday 15th December following a call to the Coastguard stating that a kitesurfer was missing off Pendine.

The volunteer crew made best speed to Pendine in heavy seas and strong winds and began a coastline search from Pendine towards Pembrey, whilst Coastguard teams searched the shore and Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 187 from RAF St Athan searched from above. The search was made more difficult due to poor visibility and a large swell.

Around five hours later, with the area thoroughly searched and conditions deteriorating on both the shore and at sea, the Coastguard made the decision to stand the search down and review the options at first light.

The lifeboat returned to station arriving at 11.45pm.
