DetailsBoth of Tenby's lifeboats were requested to launch at 7.10pm on Friday 21st August, after the Coastguard received a call stating that a swimmer was possibly in difficulty in the large swell off the lifeboat slip.

As the volunteer crew were preparing to launch both lifeboats, Tenby Coastguard Rescue Team were speaking with the first informant and it became apparent that what they actually saw was one of the lifeboat mooring buoys, which can easily be mistaken for a swimmer in difficulty, especially in the poor visibility and swell left over from Storm Ellen.

However, the inshore lifeboat was launched to perform a search to make sure nobody was in difficulty. After a brief search, the lifeboat was stood down and returned to station at 7.35pm.
