DetailsTenby’s RNLI all-weather lifeboat was launched shortly before 4pm on Saturday 26th September, following a report that a kayaker looked to be in difficulty off Freshwater East, 9 miles west of Tenby.

On arrival at Freshwater East, the volunteer crew spotted two kayakers aboard a fishing vessel which was moored offshore. After speaking with them, they confirmed that one of them had got into difficulty and been separated from the kayak, with another one spotting him and coming to his aid. They had both boarded the moored vessel to await the arrival of the lifeboat.

After being checked over the make sure they required no medical assistance, the casualty that had been in difficulty was taken aboard the Y-boat and returned to the shore, while the kayaker that came to his assistance, was taken closer to shore by the Haydn Miller, before paddling himself ashore. Both men were met by members of St Govans Coastguard Rescue Team.

The lifeboat was then stood down and returned to station, arriving at 5pm.
