DetailsTenby’s inshore lifeboat was launched at 3.45pm on Wednesday 21st July following a report of an injured fisherman on rocks at Amroth.

The volunteer crew were quickly on scene and found the casualty being tended to by RNLI lifeguards. Two members of crew were put ashore to assist with casualty care and to administer pain relief. They were soon joined by members of Tenby Coastguard Rescue Team.

With the casualty in a lot of pain and carrying him out likely to make it worse, it was decided that a helicopter medevac would be the safest method.

A short while later, Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 187 was overhead and lowered their Paramedic down to the casualty to assess and get him ready for flight. Once immobilised, the helicopter hovered above the rocks and the casualty was loaded, before being flown to hospital for further treatment.

The lifeboat then returned to station, arriving at 6.30pm.
